It is now two years since we began our project relating to the collection of WW1 recordings conducted by Dr Alf Peacock in the early 1980s. These were mostly with war veterans, but also some conscientious objectors.
Our exhibition and book are now available together with free audio CD. The 285 recordings are now digitised and most are transcribed.
On 16th July we held a commemorative event at York Guildhall which was a unique occasion, when over 100 relatives of our interviewees came along to remember their family member. We had music, afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor and an Act of Remembrance by Canon Peter Jones.
Over the summer we will be offering several presentations using the material.
On Wednesday 27th August at 2pm, we will be at Tang Hall Library, presenting some of the recordings and signing the book.
